Our Mission Statement
How we provide the highest quality care:
Professor Patrick Sheahan is Professor of Otolaryngology at University College Cork and is an internationally recognized expert in ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, and Thyroid, Parathyroid, and Salivary Gland Surgery. His current positions include Treasurer Elect of the Confederation of European ORL (CEORL) and President of the Irish Head and Neck Society (IHNS), and Council member of the European Head and Neck Society (EHNS). He has published over 140 peer-reviewed papers on all aspects of ENT.
Ms Andreea Nae is a Consultant Otolaryngologist covering general ENT, and with Specialist training in Paediatric ENT and Otology. She has authored many peer-reviewed publications in international journals on various ENT topics. She is also course director for multiple advanced surgical courses in University College Cork ASSERT centre, attracting faculty and delegates from all over Ireland and abroad.
We have invested in top-of-the-range diagnostic equipment in our new rooms in Affidea, including in-office microscopy and microsuction, allowing for advanced ear assessment and management in the rooms; as well as advanced high definition (HD) videolaryngoscopic and videostroboscopic equipment, complete with professional image enhancement technology (PIET), allowing for advanced laryngeal and voice assessment. With these resources we can perform immediate advanced diagnostics at the time of initial consultation, which can offer more accurate diagnosis and management, avoidance of need for hospital procedures, and more rapid patient progression through their management pathway.
Thanks to our close partnership with Affidea Diagnostics, we are able to arrange rapid access CT, MRI, and ultrasound scans on patients who require these. In many cases, these may even be done on the same day as your consultation.
Our rooms in Affidea Diagnostics, located within the Elysian in Cork City, is very conveniently located at the end of the South Link Road, and with ample parking available.
We have invested in a robust administrative system to make sure patients move rapidly and smoothly through their care pathways, from initial referral, to initial consultation, to investigations and surgical treatment where required, through to ongoing follow-up.
