Advanced Larynx Clinic
The Advanced Larynx clinic is a new clinic run by Professor Sheahan for the assessment, management, and follow-up of patients with laryngeal pathology, including hoarseness, vocal cord nodules, vocal cord dysplasia, and vocal cord cancer.

The Thyroid Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDM) is a meeting attended by specialists from multiple disciplines, where suspicious thyroid nodules and thyroid cancers are discussed, and management recommendations made.

Thyroseq (genetic testing)
Molecular testing of thyroid biopsies refers to testing samples for genetic mutations, which can more accurately diagnose thyroid nodules as benign or malignant. For more information click here

Thyroidectomy
Thyroidectomy is a surgical procedure to remove part or all of the thyroid gland, which is most commonly performed for management of suspicious thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), or grossly enlarged thyroids causing breathing difficulties or other compressive symptoms.

Tonsillectomy
Tonsillectomy is a procedure to remove the tonsils for treatment of recurrent or chronic tonsillitis, as well as to treat snoring and airway obstruction caused by enlarged tonsils. You will be explained in full detail of this procedure at your consultation.

Adenoidectomy
Adenoidectomy,  is a procedure to remove the adenoids.  The adenoids are located behind the nose and above the palate. Adenoids can be enlarged in children, leading to nasal obstruction and ear problems. Adenoidectomy may be recommended for relief of nasal obstruction, or to treat recurrent ear infections or obstructive sleep apnoea. Advanced Ear Clinic
The Advanced Ear clinic is run by Ms Andreea Nae. At the advanced ear clinic, specialised assessment of patients with chronic middle ear disease is performed, including patients with chronic otitis media, otosclerosis or other disorders of the ossicles (small bones of the middle ear), and perforations of the tympanic membrane (eardrum). Lump in Throat
Symptoms of a sensation of a lump in the throat, throat discomfort, throat clearing, mucus in the throat, post-nasal drip, and chronic cough, are most commonly due to benign conditions such as globus pharyngeus or laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), but should be fully evaluated by an ENT specialist.

Microsuction:
Microsuction of the ear is a highly effective and minimally invasive procedure used for the removal of wax and other debris from the ear canal,  which is performed with specialised instruments under microscopic vision. This procedure can be performed as an advanced diagnostic procedure for chronic middle ear disease, but also as a treatment for middle or outer ear infection, or removal of obstructing ear wax.

Septoplasty
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure, performed under general anaesthesia, to correct deviations or crookedness of the nasal septum (the partition inside the nose).  This can improve nasal breathing and optimise the medical management of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) or sinusitis.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
ESS refers to minimally invasive surgery on the nose and sinuses, with the objective of removing nasal polyps, and improving the aeration and drainage of the sinuses.  In conjunction with appropriate medical therapy, FESS can help to significantly improve the symptoms of sinusitis.
